Looks a lot similar…but minus fabric finish case, and plus wireless charging
In terms of design, the Lypertek Levi are as similar to the Tevi as they sound, retaining the same bud-like structure, that has to be inserted into the ears, with no stem. The case however has changed and does not have the fabric-like finish that the Tevi did, and has a more regular plastic look to it. On the flip side, it does come with support for wireless charging, something the Tevi lacked. The case comes with an impressive battery backup of forty hours, which when combined with the eight hours of the buds themselves, gives the Lypertek Levi a fantastic 48-hour battery life. That is not as amazing as that of the seventy hours one on the Tevi, but still well ahead of most of the competition. The buds also have an IPX5 splash-proof rating, which again is below the IPX 7 of the Tevi, but handy enough for gym sessions. Lypertek also claims to have improved the microphones for better call quality – a weakness of the Tevi.
No ANC, but “ambient sound”
The interface too remains largely similar, with a single button on the buds – it was a bit of a headache on the Tevi so let us see what they have done this time around. Interestingly, however, although the drivers remain 6 mm, the material used is neodymium rather than graphene that was used in the Tevi. There is no ANC (there wasn’t any on the Tevi either) but Lypertek claims the buds have excellent noise isolation.
There is a new “ambient sound” mode that will allow users to hear external sounds. There is also support for SBC and AAC codecs and for connectivity, there is Bluetooth 5.0, although there is no mention of being able to connect to multiple devices simultaneously or of aptX support. Its price tag of Rs 4,999 makes Lypertek Levi quite a deal for anyone who is looking for high-quality sound on a budget. We cannot say whether the Levi will be able to match the near audiophile quality sound that the Tevi delivered (it was compared with the Sennheiser Momentum TWS, which cost three times as much!) but on paper, they pack in enough to pose a challenge to the likes of OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi in the TWS mid-segment. A lot is going to depend on the sound quality of these TWS. For that and how it compares with the competition, you will have to wait for our review.
